Introduction

The Bar Association of the District of Columbia was founded in 1871, the third oldest bar association in the United States.  It is a voluntary bar association dedicated to promoting “civility, justice, and collegiality among members of the legal profession in the nation’s capital.”  

The Archive is a selection of  documents from 1871-1974. The documents include minutes of meetings, correspondence among bar members, and correspondence to and from legislators, organizations and other parties.
